nablopomo dropout

So, it's the last week of Nablopomo and I've completely bailed. Way back two weeks ago. Just a little confession to soothe my soul. Eden will be checking blogs and announcing winners this weekend. Eden, if you're looking at my blog, here's my big white flag of surrender. At least I tried.

What's the next challenge?

and on the seventh day

Today, I am thankful that it is Sunday. A day of rest for me, I can usually look forward to spending the day doing whatever it is my spirit needs to rejuvenate itself, from church, to Bible study, to fellowship with my small group over a great pot luck meal. Sometimes I spend the day reading a good novel, and then I retire to the master suite for a beauty treatment and some television. Aaah, Sunday is my day.

this is the day

Today, I am thankful for... today. Aside from the fact that it was a beautifully sunny and mild day, I am just thankful to have another day to be; to be everything that I am, but, mostly to be better than I was yesterday.

sick babies

Today, I am thankful to have a new pediatrician. I haven't been overwhelmed with joy in the past about our healthcare options. Today I am hopeful that this time I have found a pediatrician who reflects my own natural parenting values, is informed about the issues I care about, who respects my intuition as a mother and works to balance that with her own medical expertise.

the sling's the thing

Today I am thankful for my slings. My baby is sick and wants "uppie" all the time. The only way we can do that is by using my wrap or my structured carrier. My poor sweet sick baby girl.

as long as you have your health

Today I am thankful for my health.

reading is blissful!

Today I am thankful for books! I love to be able to retreat inside a story, to look into the heart and soul of a character, comparing it against my own. I checked out The Other Mother by Gwendolen Gross from the library and am excited to get started. I saw it mentioned on a few blogs I visited during the great Fall Y'all Giveaway that took over so many's lives last week. I'll post another time when I've finished.

free to be me

Today I am thankful for my freedom... freedom to think as I wish, freedom to question authority and the status quo. My freedom to raise my child differently than I was raised, or the same. Freedom to choose each day what path I want to take.

when parents become grandparents

Today I am thankful for my parents.

My mom is on her way to pick Z up for the weekend. Even though they can't seem to figure out how to use the sling, they're still ok in my book. ;) They love her like I've never seen people love before.

counting my blessings

In my bloggeriffic little world (aka the blogosphere), there's this thing called NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) that I've been sucked into. So far, I haven't managed to post every single day, but now I resolve to do it. NaBlo's challenge to it's members is to post *every*single*day. That's it. (As if it were so simple.) Often, I am at a loss for words. And even more, at a loss for time. So, to make it easy for myself and as bit of my own intervention personal therapy, I will post on a theme we all should keep foremost in our minds each day.

Counting my blessings. Everyday for the month of November I will write a post about something for which I am grateful -- short, long, one-word, haiku, whatever I can squeeze out of my harried mind. I'd love it if you too left your own comment about what you are thankful for.

So, here goes.

Today, I am thankful for my husband (who had the house spotless when I got home today... Nice!).
